In the dawn of his manhood,
he desires a guerdon-
a symbol of machismo.
Time comes,
He tries to find her;
Patiently, finding the perfect prey.
He moves like a predator-
he makes her smile;
he bestows her a special day;
he treats her like as a vulnerable flower
lost amidst the troubles of the forest.
He makes her happy...
Like a bubble,
he vanishes into oblivion.
He gets more pathetic!
He does nothing but hate her;
he shows her no emotion, no tear;
make her cry and ignore
all the tears she shed for him.
He drives her away...
Amidst the breeze of loneliness,
he find himself alone.
He, now, hates himself.
Such shame: for he can't concede;
that he needs someone to love him;
that he wants her;
that he needs her;
that he, too, has a heart and;
that he had fallen in love...
He crawls back to her;
reaches for her;
rebuild the billion pieces of
her broken heart.
He loves her like nothing else;
gives everything 'til he has nothing left...
Then, promises her the moon
as well as the stars.
Pretend to keep unrealistic vows;
Assures her a forever never ending...
He made a mistake-
he can't give her the forever
he has been longing to spend;
He can't give her the stars;
that he can't make her happy after all...
Such helpless man...
He finally admits that he has nothing
to put on the table;
that he has nothing more to give.
He lets her go...
Now, he creates a system of recovery-
a mechanism to lessen the pain inside.
He hides his grief under the shelter
of the absent light-
where no one can see.
He drowns himself in wine
and suffocates himself
with the smoke of the cigarette.
Again, no tears had fallen from his bloody eyes...
He waits.
Now, there she is- happy,
but not in his arms.
He remains baffled as tears
come out of his eyes.
He is hurt.
He smiles...
for the pain is a hint
that at last SHE IS HAPPY!
He laughs-
Finding out that he is not
that pathetic at all.
He gets back into the shadows;
watches her smile for the last time;
continues to cry...
FOR HER!
Wow. I'm speechless. The words strikes the readers' hearts as much as it struck the author's soul.
